WHERE WE MEET
In person in Tucson, Arizona; telehealth in Arizona, Georgia, Louisiana, Minnesota, and Ohio.
The mission of Fully Human Counseling & Consulting is to support people in becoming fully human — rediscovering their core values and actualizing their full range of strengths.
The foundation of counseling work is a safe, deep therapeutic relationship — forming a bond and coming to a shared, collaborative understanding of what's going on and how to work on it. I don't bring a rigid theory off the shelf and apply it the moment you sit down. I get to know you, and what's needed emerges. The modality matters less than our capacity for collaboration. What matters most is you remembering that you are the hero of your own journey. I'm honored to be a support, and at times a guide. Most often, a seasoned-enough fellow traveler who takes seriously the art of support.
“The modality matters less than our capacity for collaboration.”
I'm grounded in the common factors and in Existential-Humanistic therapy, integrating other approaches as indicated and as they were designed to be used — sometimes at the existential layer, sometimes the somatic, sometimes the archetypal. Sometimes we will process memories, sometimes we'll work at the level of behavioral change, or on your motivation for change.
The primary modalities Chris utilizes are: Existential-Humanistic, Somatic Experiencing, Dream Work, and EMDR. He is also informed by: Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. When appropriate, he also utilizes the MBTI® in counseling.
This framework draws on the Existential-Integrative model developed by Dr. Kirk Schneider and rooted in the work of Dr. Rollo May: a coherent way of ethically coordinating valid approaches within a depth-oriented, presence-centered relationship.
Is Counseling Right for You?
Chris works with adults navigating a wide range of concerns — trauma and its aftermath, anxiety and depression, grief and loss, life transitions, identity and meaning, relational difficulties, addictive behavior, and the quieter but persistent sense that something needs to change. He works with individuals who are willing to engage the process with honesty and curiosity.
Counseling is offered in person in Tucson, Arizona, and via telehealth throughout Arizona and the other states where Chris is licensed: Georgia, Louisiana, Minnesota, Ohio.
